By Gur Gharri GSG News Contributor  September 12, 2011  On September 11, 2011 early Sunday Morning Alshabab raided El Wak town Somalia. They killed 43 people including 3 civilians and wounded 52 people.

The latest report states that the Al Shebab militia has left the city after looting the town. Now the government troops have regrouped and are returning to the town after stunning lose. It seems that the government militias are either lacking training, commitment and or have incompetent leaders.  In the past 30 days, the Kenyan trained and managed government troops have lost almost 90% of their armored vehicles and weaponries to Al Shebab forces in relatively minor fights.  So, it appears that as if they are collaborating with Al Shebab and acted as suppliers for Al Shebab.  Also, it has been reported on numerous occasions that the government troops were selling weapons and ammunitions, but there is no accountability and nothing is being done. Therefore, they are lacking enforcement mechanism to balance their books or their inventories.  If all those rumors were true then, those leaders have to be held responsible for what ever happened or what did not happened that supposed to be happening.  The military commanders should know what and how much was given to whom. Therefore they can easily determine if anything is missing. Therefore, they could easily determine missing inventories if any.

How in the world could anyone explain that the soldiers in the frontline could not anticipate or not to expect that they could engage in a firefight at any moments specially when the enemy forces are so close to your base?  It is a ridiculous to say that the government troops did not anticipate or expected the Sunday morning raid by Alshabab. They knew Alshabab militias were there and that they were lacking supplies including food rations. So, they failed to safeguard the food rations that were intended for drought stricken civilians and they failed to keep the safety of those workers and citizens, as well as the safety of their own. Subsequently, innocent people have lost their lives and the people who were in charge of their safety and security should be charged for their reckless disregard for civilians lives.
